Movement That Restores
Every small step is enough...
“I choose movement that restores, not depletes. Every small step is enough.”
I went to bed tired. I woke up tired. Physically and emotionally tired.
I opted to push back a meeting that I knew would make me feel even more tired. Physically and emotionally tired.
As I laid in bed wishing I didn’t have to get up (thankfully I did not have to get up early!) I could just feel myself giving in to the tired. Physically and emotionally.
I tried to nap a while and did doze off again but still woke up feeling tired. I knew if I kept giving in, it might just keep cycling. So I asked ChatGPT if it would be better to do some kind of light workout vs the strength workout planned vs no workout on a day like today.
Here is what I received back for a plan, including options to mix, match, or choose from:
Option 1 – Light Strength Flow (15–20 min)
· Bodyweight squats × 10
· Light dumbbell overhead press × 10
· Glute bridges × 10
· Light dumbbell rows × 10 per side
· Repeat 2–3 rounds, slow and steady
Option 2 – Mobility + Core (20 min)
· Cat/cow × 8
· Bird-dogs × 10 per side
· Side planks × 20 sec each side
· Hip openers / stretches
· Finish with a few minutes of deep breathing
Option 3 – Walk + Stretch
· 10–20 min brisk walk outside (or treadmill)
· Gentle full-body stretch afterward
It sounds doable, nourishing even. So while I lay here feeling tired a bit longer, I am now looking forward to the movement, the circulation, the strength and fortitude to be built by moving and not giving in to the tiredness.
